Lord Miller

Character Background

Jasper Miller was born in Windsor Kansas to a family of second generation Irish. He developed a talent for stealing, and a taste for money. Feeling to confined in Kansas, he eventually moved to New York in 1944. By the winter of '45 he was boxing at a little place called Louie's most every Friday. It was there that he met Joey Mohone, of the Mohone family. He was hired first as a leg breaker and pick up man, but eventually he true talent was realized and he became one of the best cat-burglar in New York City. Money, fame and the high life was his, finally.

Of course, it had to all go wrong.

In 1954 he was hired to steal over two million in jewels from a woman named Courtney Ross. He was followed home. A man named Allister Montigue took him violently and force fed him vitae for over a week until he was completely enthralled. At that time he set him loose. Allister needed someone to get past an enemies security. A Carthian named Harvey Cruz. Jasper managed that with little difficulty, and soon Allister came in behind him and destroyed Cruz. Jasper was embraced that same night.

Jasper joined the Invictus and kept up his lifestyle, still stealing, planting evidence on enemies, defeating security systems and collecting art, his latest passion,and one that would last. He had a good run in New York until the changing political environment made his continued stay there a serious risk. The Carthians were making more and more successes and too many of them knew the things Jasper had done.

It was time to leave. In 1988 he moved to Tokyo with his ghoul Violet December. They settled in and managed to carve out a nice little niche in this strange, new land.

In 2006 everything changed. A group of Kindred called the Coven came to Tokyo and somehow managed to steal Violet from him. Around this time several members of the Primogen also began vanishing. Jasper, more concerned with his own loss, focused on trying to gain some measure of revenge on the Coven.

To that end he made a claim for Lucians ghoul Mai, in front of many assembled Kindred, and when the choice was put to her, become embraced into the Coven, or go with Jasper, she chose him. She took over many of Violets duties in running his business while Jasper attends to other duties. He has, in recent times taken to quietly teaching others the skill that made him his fortune. Recently named Primogen by the Shogun, he is attempting to focus on his duties to the city.

His relationship with the Invictus is in an odd place. While he has little to no contact with he Elder Japanese of the Covanant, who have no use for a Gaijin, regardless of Covenant alliance, he does get along with the younger members and those of the west, and has managed to carve a bit of Status from that.

Not long after becoming Primogen, Mai vanished. He spent weeks searching for her before becoming convinced she was back with the Coven. Shortly after that, the Coven was banished from the city. An old friend in the Invictus from New York came to see him then. Rose. She moved into his home and he also took a new ghoul, Mia with the idea of turning her when the time is right.Rose left fairly soon after this.

As the native Invictus started targeting the foreign members of the covenant, and those loyal to Sakura. As Jasper pledged his loyalty to the Shogun he saw his childe Mia killed, as well as the loss of most of his alies within the estate. Feeling that he needed the freedom to move and take action in a way that a member of court could not, he resigned. Not seeing another way out of the situation he finally made plans to return to New York in January of 2005

Upon his return, he took a place in Hell's Kitchen and began re-establishing his ties with the Irish Mob, meeting with the children of old friends he knew. Making use of his ability to read minds, and to appear as other people Jasper managed to make a small presence in his old town. Once he was feeling sure of himself in the mortal community Jasper focused his attention on the Kindred and began the slow process of reclaiming some of his lost status by making contact with old friends and allies and smoothing over old grudges.
