Character Background
Arkady Vadim Fyodor was born in St. Petersburg (then Leningrad), Russia, in the middle of December 1954. His family was well-off, having survived the revolution due to political connections even though they had family ties to the Tzar and the ruling class, and surviving Communism by profiting off the Cold War itself. Arkady was shielded from the "family business" by his father, who wanted his firstborn son to be a proper noble, as was his birthright.
Arkady was raised with the beliefs of protecting the people, and of caring for one's family above all. He incorporated those ideas with the prevalent notions of Communism as well as noblesse oblige. The were other family secrets that Arkady was allowed to know, though: they were a strong bloodline of Wolf-Blooded, related to the Uratha. It was hoped by his father that Arkady would one day change and become one of The People as well, and bring honor to the family.
Arkady was never a good student, but he did his best and learned what he could. It was not a lack of intelligence, but a lack of desire. He preferred being outside and doing physical activities and sports. He was always a very physical child, and was starting to become good in some of the sports he participated in. Only his father's desire for Arkady to be raised as royalty, or as close to it as was possible in Cold War Russia, kept Arkady from being put into the Olympic athlete track. ( more... )
