居酒屋 Izakaya

Izakaya in Japanese refers to a drinking establishment. Izakaya is a small, quiet establishment, that is located in Little Tokyo, a neighborhood in Manhattan. It is often frequented by Yakuza. Non-Japanese are sometimes run out of the establishment unless they are accompanied by a regular or have some business to conduct that might interest someone at the bar. The major exception being attractive women.

Izakaya serves alcohol, Japanese food, including sushi. It is well liked by neighboring offices for its food. During the day time, it is often busy with patrons coming for take out orders.

Izakaya also offers a private tatami room that is quite busy most of the time. It can be reserved, but the staff is likely to not uphold the reservation if too many of the patrons are Non-Japanese. The room suits 6-8 people.
